A new 3rd Sunday of the month Service at All Saints, starting July 15th
Thank you to everyone who completed the worship questionnaire earlier in the year. The responses represented all the different congregations and a sample of people from the school and community. The results are in a report at the back of church or available on our website.
We are developing another worship service that will be attractive to all-ages and open up both fresh creative ideas and the sacramental traditions of our worship to a new generation of families and younger people in the village. We are building on our AllTogether@10 service on the 1st Sunday of the month while drawing on the very best of our traditions.
The main findings from the questionnaire point towards a simplified service of Holy Communion with a children’s singing and drama group, elements of ‘messy church’ and a mix of traditional hymns and more contemporary worship, perhaps incorporating some use of modern media and projection. The most popular time was 10am.
We have begun to trial different elements of the service, including a simplified liturgy following the familiar pattern of our authorised Common Worship. We will be starting a junior singing and drama group to contribute to the service, alongside the numerous talents of the adult congregation. One of the great joys of AllTogether@10 is the high level of participation of all ages. We hope to carry this ethos into the new service.
We are very grateful to Martyne who will continue to play the organ and piano for us and the offers of help from so many people. The first service will be July 15thand we will be trialing the service through to Christmas. Please do contact me if you wish to be involved in the planning or any other aspect of our worship together.
