Coronavirus advice for sharing the peace and taking communion

This is how we are applying the Church of England guidance:

• The churches of the benefice will stop sharing the peace and instead say the words of the grace when the peace would ordinarily be shared.

• If you are are feeling unwell or are in at-risk category, or if you prefer not to take the chalice, take only the bread and not the wine or come forward for a blessing.

• Do not dip the bread in the wine. The risk of contamination from your fingers onto the chalice or into the wine is too great.

• The best hand hygiene practice will be used by the priest who is giving out the communion bread.

• People receiving only the bread have fully received communion.

• If you are feeling unwell, please consider whether you should have a devotional time at home.

If the national advice changes, we will keep congregations informed.  Full information on Church of England advice on this can be found at;

Sharing the grace

While standing or sitting say the following words together while looking around the congregation as a symbol that we are together as the family of God.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen
